Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo:
10th Anniversary Show - October 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2010
Since our very first show back in September of 2000, Cinema Wasteland has guaranteed everyone through the door more films and events than any one fan can attend over the course of the weekend. Ten years and eighteen shows later, we still feel that way. We’ve got over 60 hours worth of programing scheduled for October’s Anniversary Show, so decide what you want to do most and start plotting out your weekend to catch the most of what’s available.
Events and times are subject to change from what is listed below between now and show time, so check back the week of the show for any schedule changes.
WEEKEND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
FRIDAY (October 1st):
4:30pm - All 3-Day Pass holders admitted.
5:00pm - Doors Open to Single Day Pass holders. Show officially opens.
5:15pm - MOVIE: Documentary on low budget film making, UNDER THE SCARES, kicks off the weekend screenings in MOVIE ROOM 2. See if you can’t spot a past or present Wasteland guest or two adding his or hers two cents to the proceedings.
5:30pm - MOVIE TRAILERS: An hours worth of Drive-In and Grindhouse Movie trailers begins in MOVIE ROOM 1.
6:30pm - MOVIE: ABBY, director William Girdler’s over-the-top Drive-In version of “The Exorcist” with Carol Speed and Austin Stoker, begins in MOVIE ROOM 1.
6:45pm - Our FRIDAY NIGHT SHORT FILM BLOCK begins in MOVIE ROOM 2. We’ve got a packed block of eight shorts scheduled this time around. You’ll find them presented in the following order in MOVIE ROOM 2: BRAIN MAGGOTS FROM OUTER SPACE (2010), PUZZLED (2010), GET OFF MY PORCH (2010), THE RE- DEADENING (2009), CYCLONE (2010), GARGALESE THE TICKLE MONSTER (2009), LIVING DEAD (2010), and BELATED BY VALENTINE’S LOVER (2009).
8:00pm - GUEST: Carol Speed and Austin Stoker will meet with fans following the ABBY screening to kick off the weekend’s Guest Panels and Q&A sessions in MOVIE ROOM 2.
8:45pm - MOVIE: BONBONS ROUGES (Red Candy), the Halloween themed short feature from Canadian filmmaker Jef.X, begins in MOVIE ROOM 2.
9:00pm - MOVIE: DEADBEAT AT DAWN, Jim VanBebber’s indy gang film classic, begins in MOVIE ROOM 1.
9:30pm - EVENT: Everyone’s invited to attend the wedding of Cinema Wasteland fans, Dave Young and his fiancé Melissa when Reverend 42nd Street Pete ties ‘em up in knots... ah, helps them tie the knot in MOVIE ROOM 2. Cheers!
10:00pm - The DEALER and GUEST ROOM closes for the night but the evening is far from over. Grab yourself a cold one and a little snack and join us for our Deadbeat at Dawn cast panel, a late night movie, or meet up with friends in the bar. The choice is yours, so enjoy your night.
10:30pm - GUEST: After the DEADBEAT AT DAWN screening, join director Jim VanBebber, producer and cinematographer Mike King, and Marc “Bone Crusher” Pittman for a rare late night Panel and Q&A session with fans in MOVIE ROOM 2.
10:30pm - MOVIE: OZONE! ATTACK OF THE REDNECK MUTANTS, begins in MOVIE ROOM 2. We’ll see if director Matt Devlin and Muther VIdeo will do an introduction to this B movie cult classic as well!
MIDNIGHT - MOVIE: ALIEN FACTOR, director Don Dohler’s camp B movie classic, gets the Midnight time slot to end the day’s screenings in MOVIE ROOM 1.
MIDNIGHT - MOVIE: It’s truly the “Day of the Woman” when the rape ‘n revenge cult classic, I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, unspools in all of its uncut glory. Catch it as it closes out the night’s screenings in MOVIE ROOM 2.
SATURDAY (October 2nd):
9:30am - DOCUMENTARY: Start your day the old school wrestling way with the documentary, THE SHEIK: WRESTLING’S GREATEST VILLAIN. There wouldn’t be “hardcore” wrestling as you know it today without The Sheik. Come and find out why in MOVIE ROOM 2.
10:00am - Doors Open for all pass holders.
10:30am - MOVIE: Saturday morning “Hangover Theater” kicks off with the rubber suit monster mayhem that is TRACK OF THE MOONBEAST. Grab your coffee... or a morning beer, and head off to MOVIE ROOM 1.
10:30am - 42nd Street Pete’s SATURDAY MORNING HARDCORE WRESTLING HOUR offers up all the blood and carnage you’ve come to expect in MOVIE ROOM 2.
NOON - Son of Ghoul’s 3 STOOGES AT NOON will feature the usual trio of original Three Stooges shorts on real 16mm film. Catch ‘em in MOVIE ROOM 1.
NOON - MOVIE: The independent short feature, THE FAMILY BUSINESS, begins in MOVIE ROOM 2.
12:45pm - MOVIE: Indy exploitation flick, LETHAL OBSESSION, begins in MOVIE ROOM 2.
1:30pm - MOVIE: Herschell Gordon Lewis’ latest film, THE UH-OH SHOW, promises to bring on the gore and uncomfortable laughs in MOVIE ROOM 1.
2:00pm - MOVIE: Watch buying an abandoned house. You may not enjoy what goes on NEXT DOOR when it begins in MOVIE ROOM 2.
3:00pm - GUEST: Herschell Gordon Lewis, the Godfather of Gore, will meet with fans after the screening of THE UH-OH SHOW to talk about pretty much anything attending fans want to talk about, in MOVIE ROOM 1.
3:45pm - MOVIE: Fred Williamson and Gloria Hendry make it hot for corrupt cops and the NY mob in HELL UP IN HARLEM, beginning in MOVIE ROOM 2.
4:15pm - EVENT: It’s time for 42nd Street Pete’s GRINDHOUSE PANEL with Special Guest, adult film producer, director, and performer, Carter Stevens. Why not pop in and see what the perverts from New Jersey’s West Orange High School have to say? Get schooled in MOVIE ROOM 1.
5:30pm - MOVIE: Independent gore film classic, THE ABOMINATION, slimes it’s way into MOVIE ROOM 1. Perhaps we can get producer Matt Develin to do an introduction to the film?
5:30pm - MOVIE: Josh Becker’s THOU SHALT NOT KILL... EXCEPT begins in MOVIE ROOM 2. Stick around after the credits roll. We’ll see if we can’t get Josh to do a little Q&A or show one of his old 8mm short films after the screening.
7:00pm - The DEALER and GUEST ROOM closes for the night, but we can almost guarantee you that the late night shenanigans will keep most of you awake until way past your usual bedtime. Keeping up with the Wasteland regulars is no easy feat.
7:45pm - MOVIE: SELLA TURCICA, the latest from Toe Tag Pictures, premiers in MOVIE ROOM 2. Stick around after the screening for a short Q&A with Fred Vogel and the film’s star, Camille Keaton.
8:00pm - EVENT: It’s time for another GHASTLEE NITE AT THE MOVIES, with your host, A. Ghastlee Ghoul. We’re celebrating Ten Years of Cinema Wasteland Shows this time around with an evening of music, laughs, and plenty of interactive games to play with fans in the audience. Stop on in for a night of Laughs, Prizes and Free Stuff in MOVIE ROOM 1.
9:45pm - MOVIE: ZOMBIE CHRIST walks the Earth... And really enjoys hot naked chicks as much as the rest of us do! Don’t miss his conquests when Bill Zebub’s latest exploitation outing begins in MOVIE ROOM 2.
10:30pm - MOVIE: PHANTASM begins in real film in MOVIE ROOM 1. Yes, we will ask Reggie Bannister if he’s up to doing an introduction to the film as well.
11:30pm - MOVIE: EL TOPO (The Mole), America’s original “Midnight Movie” begins with an introduction by “Son of El Topo” Robert John in MOVIE ROOM 2.
MIDNIGHT - MOVIE: GREEN SLIME comes at you with all of its midgets-in-monster-suits and space age mini-skits intact, in MOVIE ROOM 1.
SUNDAY (October 3rd):
11:00am - Doors open for all pass holders.
11:45am - MOVIE: The Michigan lensed ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE kicks off Sunday’s movie screenings in MOVIE ROOM 2.
NOON - MOVIE: GREEN SLIME rears its ugly head to start the day in MOVIE ROOM 1.
1:30pm - MOVIE: TABLOID, the rare to find anthology comedy from Glen Coburn and Matt Devlen, begins MOVIE ROOM 2.
1:45pm - MOVIE: Don Dohler’s ALIEN FACTOR returns to MOVIE ROOM 1. Just in case you missed it late night Friday, here’s your last chance to catch it this weekend.
3:00pm - MOVIE: SELLA TURCICA returns to end the weekend screenings in MOVIE ROOM 2. Didn’t get a seat to see it on Saturday? Then, here’s your last chance to catch it before we call it a weekend.
3:15pm - MOVIE: The ball is back! PHANTASM returns to end the weekend film screenings in MOVIE ROOM 1.
5:00pm - Cinema Wasteland officially turns out the lights and bolts the door on its 10th Anniversary Show. Can’t tell you we’ll make it another ten years or not, but I can let you know that we’ll be back next April 1-3, 2011 with another Cinema Wasteland “Spring Spectacular” you won’t soon forget. Make those plans to join us now and we’ll see you all in six short months when we do it all over again... The Wasteland Way!
